Dear Friends,
I hope that you’ve had an opportunity to drive past the church in the last week to see the new stone walls on the Education Hall facing 109 and University Ave! So many thanks to Jan Dubats and family for this wonderful memorial to Bill Dubats! Also, a special thanks to Bill Schmidt for overseeing the project from inception to completion! The stone facing has really changed the look of our building, and I’ve had calls from our neighbors complimenting us on the new look! We are blessed!
This Sunday, August 7, please join us for a coffee/cake reception for Pastor Tim and Chris after the 10:00 am service. They were married in early July, and we celebrate with them! If you aren’t able to join us and would like to send cards and well wishes, please give to the Church Office and we will see that they receive them.
Vacation Bible School has been happening this week! The theme is “Food Truck,” and the children have been having a blast! Thank you to everyone who supplied treats for the week and special thanks to Karleen Fusenig and all the volunteers who made the week possible!

As we look forward to confirmation this year, we believe we are welcoming a great group of 6 graders to the program. As our confirmation program is being re-designed, we are interested in hearing from a couple of you who are interested in teaching and in helping with the youth this Fall. Please contact me with your interest!
We have had one individual express interest in learning livestream and AV/sound: I would love to hear from two more who would like to learn the position. These are paid positions. Please contact me with your interest. We need to have a full compliment of livestream and AV/sound individuals so that we can meet the needs of not only the livestream on Sundays, but the livestream that can be provided for other special worships and funerals.
There are many questions about Wednesday evening suppers returning this Fall. While I am interested in providing ‘family friendly’ meals on these evenings, I would like to keep the meal to a specific time so that our children and youth have access to the Fellowship Hall for their evening activities and events. With that, I need to hear from at least three people who are interested in managing the meals on Wednesday evenings, and others who are willing to do set-up and clean up. Let me know of your interest and at what level you would like to be involved. As you know, the Wednesday evening meal schedule is one that matches the Confirmation and Spirit Time schedule; there are some evenings when a meal is not served. If we begin our Wednesday evening meal schedule, these meals are provided first of all to the families of our students and Spirit Time students, and as welcome to our community friends who are able to join us.
If you are planning a baptism at Peace, our upcoming Baptismal Sundays are: September 18, October 9, and December 4. If these Sundays do not work for your family, please contact me and we will arrange a date that will work for you. To schedule a baptism, please contact Julie in the Church Office.
Next week Office hours are limited to Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 8:30 am – noon. Because of staff events, we won’t have office hours on Thursday, August 11. Normal office hours will resume on August 16, 17 and 18, from 8:30 am – noon.
As you know, this time of year, we are busy with carpet cleaning and arranging for Fall programs and activities. Please also keep in mind that we have two upcoming funeral services.
The Memorial service for Myron Kahle is Wednesday, August 10, visitation 10:00 am, service 11:00 am, and luncheon to follow the service. The Memorial service for Sandra Kilby is Tuesday, August 16, at 11:00 am, with visitation at 10:00 am.
No email will be sent on Wednesday, August 24, as I will be out of the Office. Emails will continue on August 31.
Staff is busy working on updates for our Fall programs and activities. A newsletter will be published and mailed out to you by the beginning of September.
