Weekly Announcements from Pastor Valerie Brown-Greenly, Senior Pastor

Dear Friends,
As you read this, I’m driving back from Kansas having spent Memorial Weekend with my Dad and family.  I hope you had a good weekend.
First, remember our food distribution is on Tuesday, June 22, from 4:00-6:00pm.  This distribution is for members of Peace, community members who have been referred to us, and various families referred from the schools.  If you and your family would find a food distribution helpful, please contact me this week.  Your contact is confidential.  We want to be of service to as many as possible.
If you haven’t done so, please take a walk in the Garden.  With the rain, everything is blooming and filling in.  It’s worth the time.  What a beautiful time to be out enjoying nature!  Our community gardeners are busy working rows and making great headway.  There are activities and events planned throughout the summer.  Beginning Saturday, June 5, there will be family-friendly events in the garden on Saturday mornings from 9:30-10:30am.  The first three weeks (June 5, 12, 19) will be yoga.  The link to the calendar is https://weallneedfoodandwater.org/peace-garden/   (See additional garden information at the end of this email.)
Here is the current funeral list:
If you plan on attending, please leave a message through the church office and we will add you to the list.  This helps with luncheon planning and bulletin counts.
Jane Ebert, Tuesday, June 8, at 11:00am; (visitation at 10am)
Marion Wood, Wednesday, June 16, at 6pm; (visitation at 5pm)
Ron Rist, Friday, June 18, at 11am; (visitation at 10am)
Pat and Carl Ramberg, Thursday, June 24, at 11am; (visitation at 10am)
Carmie Martin, Saturday, July 24, at 11am; (visitation at 10am)
Office hours will remain the same, except on the mornings of funeral services.  Please take note of the list–no office hours on a day when a funeral is scheduled.
I hope you enjoyed the worship service from the Minneapolis Area Synod.  This coming Sunday, June 6, worship will be in-person and online at 10:00am.  If you are attending worship, please arrive at 9:45am.  We will admit everyone at that time.  You are encouraged to leave at the finish of worship and exit the building and enjoy conversations in the parking lot.
On Sundays, June 13 and June 20, we will have Coffee Fellowship following the worship service.  Stop at the kitchen service window and receive your coffee and cookie, and be seated at one of the tables in the Fellowship Hall.  Please remember to mask in the building, except for the time you are enjoying your coffee and cookie at your table.
Please remember we will have two more coffee/fellowship occasions in July, and hopefully a picnic in August.  I’m listing this information so all of our members and families know how the building is being used.  We want to encourage families with young children to return to worship, especially this fall; and for them to understand how masking is being done and when masking is not required.
I hope you are following the logical progression of this:  if you are unvaccinated for whatever reason, (and the church is not going to ask or track vaccinated or unvaccinated) knowing when portions of the building are not masking will help you plan your time at church.  Be assured though: we will continue to mask in worship.  It is important that every person and every family feel welcome, be comfortable, and feel safe in the sanctuary.  Thank you for your ongoing cooperation.  We will move forward as vaccination rates continue to rise across Minnesota and when it is safe for every person to be in worship without masking.
Have a good week!  Take care…Be safe…
