Free Garden Plots Available!

Hello fellow Peace members,
My name is Dawn Pape. I’m a life-long member of Peace Lutheran with a passion for caring for God’s creation that supports us. My nonprofit, We All Need Food and Water, is partnering with the Peace garden board to expand gardening opportunities. Please read on…

Perhaps you’ve heard that since Loaves and Fishes is no longer farming in our Peace Garden, we are dividing that space into smaller community garden plots. The garden plots will be offered to Peace Lutheran Church members and the surrounding community until March 31st. If space remains, garden areas will be available to the wider community starting April 1st. The garden plots are totally free of charge! Sign up at today at weallneedfoodandwater.org/peace-garden/.

VOLUNTEER
We’d love to involve more member on the garden board or for garden events. If you have an interest, talk to Pastor Val or Garden Board Chair Bill Schmidt. For people who love the outdoors, there are plenty of ways to help planting, tending, and harvesting. No handy or willing soul will be turned away!

TEACH or HOST YOUR EVENT-Register
In line with the vision for this garden to serve as a community destination that brings people together in positive ways-especially after a year of isolation for many people-we would like to let other groups know that it is available for use. Our garden is large enough that people can gather yet stay safely apart. We welcome community-building events, activities, and workshops in the garden. Registering to use the outdoor space is free and the sign up is at weallneedfoodandwater.org.

RECREATE
Woodchipped paths dotted with benches offer a nice place for people to walk, rest, or observe nature. Remember to take advantage of the area.

Coming Soon! LEARN-Sign Up for Garden/Nature Workshops or Day Camps
This season we are planning on hosting educational sessions and summer camps outside in the community garden coordinated by local nonprofit We All Need Food and Water. Registration for the Water Heroes summer camp, geared for kids ages 8-12 will be available soon. Stay tuned.

If you’re looking to learn about gardening or the environment, We All Need Food and Water is would like to know what you’re interested in learning about. We will do their best to create programming for you-and likely others with similar interests. Contact me and let me know.
