CARE GIVING
OUR MISSION
To provide and nurture a holistic well-being for people. Jesus ministry included
preaching, teaching and healing. We all have a brokenness that can be healed,
and together we can help each other heal.
STEPHEN MINISTRY

Stephen Ministry is a specialized and confidential ministry that focuses on taking care of one another as Jesus taught us to do.
Stephen Ministers are caring lay people who are called and trained to work one-on-one, in a confidential manner, with someone who is going through rough times in their life. They are a Christian friend who will spend about an hour a week listening to and praying with a hurting person.
If you know a friend who may want/need this kind of caring relationship, ask for their permission to share his or her need with Pastor Valerie or one of the Stephen Leaders (Karen Peterson Pitts or Mary Steege). Be sure you tell your friend that all information is confidential. When permission is given, talk to Pastor Valerie as promptly as possible. Pastor Valerie will take it from there.
Maybe you are that hurting person. Please call the Peace Office and they will put you in contact with Pastor Valerie. She will call you back and set a time to meet with you to explain more about what Stephen Ministry can mean to you.

DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE A PART OF STEPHEN MINISTRY?
At Peace Lutheran Church, the congregation is an important part of Stephen Ministry. The members of the congregation are the eyes and ears in our community that can help identify people (potential care receivers) who may be experiencing a crisis or struggling with a problem that they cannot handle alone. These individuals may need to be connected with a Stephen Minister who is trained to bring confidential Christian care giving to them.
Stephen Ministry needs the help of the members of Peace to discover these potential care receivers. We would not want someone who needs this kind of support to be denied a Stephen Minister.
We have felt the prayers that Peace has offered for our ministry and are very thankful for that support. We ask you to continue to keep us and our care receivers in your prayers.
